A New Season of “Things To Do” in Downtown PC

2018 brings an entirely new set of opportunities for folks to come experience Historic Downtown Panama City.

The DIB has re-invented our monthly Events, rebranding as the Block Parties (an all day event on the 3rd Saturday of each month, beginning at 11am) with a new focus on family-driven fun! We have added a new Kids-zone, all free of charge, including Bounce Houses from Buddy’s Bouncers, and free face-painting, along with lots of other attractions!

The organic group #WeAreDowntown is putting on weekly free Movies in the Park, and you can check out their Event Schedule by clicking HERE.

Panama City Center for the Arts is coming to the end of their extensive renovations, and you can find their upcoming calendar by clicking HERE.

We will post more things happening as we confirm, and there will be an updated Community Calendar live shortly!

Take A Stroll Down Memory Lane With “Music Matters”

The first Music Matters was on March 5, 2014. Prior to that Crook and Victoria hosted a meeting at the Ghetto Palace to include the Mayor, City commissioners, business owners and our local musicians. The Mayor and 3 commissioners were present as were several business owners and musicians. They proposed to begin a music scene in Downtown Panama City – Harrison Ave. specifically – to encourage locals and tourists alike to come downtown to shop, dine, drink, and listen to live local music.

Music Matters has created a “tipping culture” for downtown. This way the musicians pay could be augmented with tips making it more appealing for them to play downtown. Trigo’s was the first to jump on board and have a musician on their front patio, then Millie’s also stepped up. Wednesdays were a better night for local musicians to perform, so they wouldn’t compete with higher paid acts at larger venues on weekends.

As it turned out – it worked and within 2 months the musicians were getting paid! Not long after, Ferrucci’s Ristorante decided to have live dinner music and The Place would have musicians play on the front patio. The Colonial *Now Patsy’s joined in and even Avenue Sea had music for their wine tasting event.

Millie’s and Trigo’s has stuck around the longest, and still have live music at their locations! Visit Facebook page at Musicmatterspcfla for more information and a schedule!

“Everyone does not have to participate in Music Matters – but we would love for all restaurants to have music!! We are always happy to promote and usually share all posts regarding local, live music everywhere! We hope this trend continues to grow and more businesses hire local musicians.”

The Wine Dog is on it’s way!

Panama City, FL – Wine Dog has officially announced it’s move to Historic Downtown Panama City Florida and we want to share this incredible news with everyone.  Their move from 23rd street to downtown is both exciting and special to this area.  The Wine Dog owners Terri Davidson and Clay Avedisian chose to relocate their successful business to historic downtown not only because of the space, and potential, but the merchants and local community voiced their input as well.

“After four attempts to secure a place, we were visited by a group of downtown merchants bearing cards and letters.  I received an outpouring of support to relocate downtown not just from other merchants, but from the Cove community as well.”

says Wine Dog Owner Terri Davidson

The Wine Dog has been a staple in Panama City for ten years and boasts many brands of boutique and vintage wines, craft brews, and even cigars.  Downtown Panama City is proud to have them open their doors in September, and welcome new and current customers to their new location.

The Wine Dog will be open sometime in September, and will be located in the heart of Historic Downtown at 461 Harrison Avenue.
